Former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, has been sentenced to 75 years’ imprisonment by the Federal High Court in Abuja over corruption linked to the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.
Delivering judgment on Wednesday, Justice James Omotosho convicted Mamman on a 12-count charge bordering on corruption and money laundering.
The court held that the prison terms would run consecutively, bringing the total sentence to 75 years.
Justice Omotosho also ordered that the sentence should take effect from the date of Mamman’s arrest and directed security agencies to apprehend the former minister wherever he may be found.
In addition, the court ordered the forfeiture of all monies and properties recovered from the convict to the Federal Government.
The judge further directed Mamman to refund the outstanding balance from the alleged N22 billion linked to the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.
