Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office by signing his nomination form for the 2027 general elections, describing the gesture as a “beautiful birthday gift.”

Kalu, who turned 55 on May 5, 2026, appended his signature to the form on Tuesday in the presence of the lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, James Faleke, and the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

In a statement shared on his official X account on Wednesday, Kalu said the endorsement offered him a meaningful opportunity to reaffirm his support for the President’s administration and its policy direction.

“I had the privilege of endorsing and signing the nomination form of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, presented by Hon. James Faleke, alongside the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo,” he said. “It was a significant personal moment and an opportunity to reaffirm my commitment to the continuity of the Renewed Hope Agenda as we look toward the 2027 elections.”

The Deputy Speaker added that he and other political leaders remain committed to supporting the administration in delivering reforms aimed at national development and improving citizens’ welfare.

Similarly, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, had earlier endorsed the President’s re-election bid by signing the same nomination form, describing it as a step toward sustaining ongoing development efforts. In a statement issued by his media aide, Francis Nwaze, Umahi characterized the move as a demonstration of commitment to continuity and consolidation of the administration’s achievements.

The nomination process was initiated by James Faleke, who obtained the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms on behalf of the President. Faleke, also the founder of the Tinubu Support Groups, collected the forms in Abuja following the official commencement of the process by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu.

The forms, reportedly valued at ₦100 million, mark the formal beginning of President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will take place on February 6, 2027.
